SHATTERED

My reflection has stolen my time once again
And you are not sure where I stop and she begins
You stare into eyes that stare back unblinking
A penny for my thoughts, if you know what I'm thinking
She has a curiosity and innocence that I've lost
And she clings to it, not letting go at all costs
I have retreated to a place where there is no light
An internal black hole with a vacuum I can't fight
A body is not needed so I leave it behind
And it walks and talks with the aid of my abandoned mind
I am floating through a space that's so far away
I don't even realize that I've been gone for a day
The clock doesn't wait as I search for a way out
The echoes of my voice get compacted into one shout
And no one can hear this one desperate cry
Shattered in a mirror that can't answer, who am I
|
