MY FRIENDS
by DKZ
|
We can never seem to adequately express
Our feelings of fear and distress,
Nor the hidden anger which lies
Beneath our long winded sighs,
Or our need for a friend when depressed.
|
But oh how we need to be freed
From this no one can know us breed,
To let down our armored guard
To our true aching heart,
Without the games that are second nature to "we".
|
Instead we just bury ourselves
Underneath our emotional shelves,
Protecting ourselves against pain and hurt
By being defensive and curt,
All the while suffering from within.
|
We know that your friendship you have proven,
As a relationship with us can often be hard.
Our defenses keep us at a distance,
Our lack of trust often makes us rigid and tense,
Your patience we know we've tried hard.
|
You see the hand of doubt is pushing us to the end
While the hand of risk is pulling us back again,
And so we beg of you somehow,
Please, dear friend, stand by us right now.
