MISPLACED TRUST
by DKZ
|
You once told me that I could trust you
That you'd always be my friend, in spite of…
And so with much caution and fear
I decided to try and believe you
To, in spite of my doubts, give you a chance.
|
You see I really wanted to believe
That you weren't like others in my life
That maybe you were different, and
That you wouldn't use me or cause further strife.
|
But more importantly, I also needed to believe that.
You see, trusting has always been a hard thing
For me to believe and hope in
And each time it is broken
The message gets louder and the pain stronger
And quickly drives me further within.
|
And in your case, the story is once again the same
And the lesson I've once again learned, and
Hopefully will never forget is equally clear:
Never believe anyone when they tell you
That they want to be your friend, that they truly care
Never believe that they won't abuse you
And never believe that trust is unconditionally anywhere.
